Long Line of Ladies
Now streaming on The New York Times Op-Docs!
The Pad Project and the filmmaking team behind Period. End of Sentence. collaborated with a Karuk Dance Family to help tell the story of Ahtyirahm “Ahty” Allen, a 13-year-old girl, as she and her family prepare to celebrate her first period with the Ihuk Flower Dance, a traditional coming of age ceremony.
The team that shed light on menstrual stigma with Period. End of Sentence. worked with directors Rayka Zehtabchi and Shaandiin Tome to honor this celebration of menstruation. To support the Karuk community, The Pad Project has partnered with the Native Cultures Fund at the Humboldt Area Foundation to establish a fund to support projects that align with the values shared during the Karuk coming of age ceremonies.
